Introducing Community Projects

We’ve said it in our Manifesto, and we’ll say it once more: the best results come from shared ideas. It's why we want our platform to be as open, accessible, and transparent as possible—it's also why we’re introducing Community Projects, our most collaborative channel to date. We invite the Reaction community to contribute to, discuss, and ask questions about all our major projects, from core features and marketplace to design and documentation. Here’s how you can get involved.

Meet our Project Leads

To make our process more accessible, we’ve broken down our dev work into individual project groups, each one helmed by community leads. Sharing our progress with the community at-large not only allows the members of our core team to take ownership of their area of expertise, it also encourages honest, direct feedback from our user base. Here's a list of our projects, along with their leads:

Interested in leading one of our projects? You don’t have to be a member of the core team to take on the gauntlet. In fact, all interested community members are more than welcome to join the ranks! Feel free to reach out or PM any of our project leads if you’re interested.

Join our New Gitter Rooms

If you’ve checked out our Gitter lately, then you may have noticed some new rooms. In an effort to cut down on some of the noise in our main room, we’ve siphoned project-specific conversations into their own designated spaces with set conversation topics. Hopefully, the reorganizing will make navigating Gitter chat easier for community members.

Although we—and our users—like to be helpful and answer support questions about Reaction, it should be noted that these spaces are more for planning, discussions, and long-term goals. That said, go ahead and join a room. Meet the team. Start a conversation! [View the complete list of rooms here]((

Attend a Community Meeting

Let's become better acquainted, shall we? In the spirit of radical transparency, we will now be hosting monthly and bi-monthly online meetings, entirely open to the public, through Zoom. Each meeting will be specific to a single project, so if you have a particular question or suggestion you’d like to present to the Reaction team, then you’ll want to bring it up at the designated Community Project meeting.

For a full schedule of events, check out our docs. And for links to each individual webcast session, check out our Google Calendar.

Track our Progress

Our Waffle board was getting a little unruly, so we’ve switched gears for the time being. If you'd like to keep track of our real-time progress, then you’ll want to refer to our Milestones page, where we've grouped all of the Issues that are currently on our radar into project epics. This is especially helpful if you have your eye on a specific feature, like split order/drop ship fulfillment. With Milestones, you'll get to see exactly where we're at.

For a big picture overview of where Reaction is headed, visit our Features Roadmap.

What’s Next

Up next, we’ll be converting our Product Grid and Details page to take better advantage of server-side rendering. We’ve also been planning, documenting, and creating Milestones for Marketplace over the last month, and now, we’re finally ready to roll up our sleeves and dive into some heavy-duty code. Be sure to check back soon—it’s gonna be a big one.
